Hi there! I'm Katie, and I live in New Hampshire with my husband, baby boy (seen above!), baby on the way, dog, and 12 chickens! My husband and I dream of buying a big farmhouse in northern New Hampshire and living "the good life." To us, "the good life" includes living within our means, off of the land, and in bliss. It might be different for you, but we all have our own "good life" fantasy!
I hope to use this space as a way to share our journey and to document our efforts. This would include the area where I believe that we as a family have the most leeway - the food that we put into our bodies! I want to feed my family well, and be smart about it. Here I will let folks in on how much we spend at each grocery trip and what we make with that food... and hopefully, get some tips about how to do better along the way!
I will be honest - my husband and I have never really budgeted that much. We have a credit card, and everything goes on there... we have found ourselves in a position that feels as though we cannot crawl out of. I won't go into the gritty details of all of our budget, but I do want to be open and honest about how much we spend on food. And maybe as I get braver, we can start a countdown to getting some of that debt paid off.
So these first few months of the year are going to be rocky. I anticipate goals not being met and some starts and stops. Will you hang with us while we figure it out?
